Dear Yoga . . .

Katie H. of San Francisco spent most of the morning of her wedding day twisted in a pretzel with perfectly curled hair. If she could write only one thank you note for her wedding, it would be to yoga.

Dear Yoga,

Brides freak out about everything: vendors are late; why is the DJ playing that song; the food is cold; people are too drunk, or not drunk enough… If you focus on the minor details, your mind can very easily spin out of control. This is probably why we creatively borrowed the term Bridezilla from Godzilla. Life presents many opportunities we could stress about, a wedding should not be one of them.

Because of you, I was able to recognize that our wedding was one of the only times in my life that I'd have everyone I love in one place and the ONLY time I would be marrying the love of my life!

Thank you for teaching me to be truly present, to appreciate and enjoy the moments right in front of me with all of my heart, and to let go of the things I couldn’t control. Thank you for keeping Bridezilla away from my wedding. I had more fun than anyone on that dance floor!! :) Because of you, I enjoyed all of the special moments that my friends and family created.

Inevitably, we all have things that feel stressful. While not everybody reading this is getting married, Katie’s letter to yoga is a powerful reminder of how wonderful life can be, stress and all, when we are present in this moment.

P.S. A tremendous thank you to Erica Garleib Photography for capturing this photo of one of our dear friends on her wedding day.
